Vaccines work for All

India's immunization program is part of the National Health Mission (NHM) and is one of the world's largest public health programs. The program provides free vaccinations to children and pregnant women against 12 vaccine-preventable diseases:

  • National: Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Rubella, severe childhood tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, and meningitis and pneumonia caused by Hemophilus Influenza type B

  • Sub-national: Rotavirus diarrhea, Pneumococcal pneumonia, and Japanese encephalitis 

The program has been responsible for a significant reduction in the under-5 mortality rate and the elimination of polio in 2014 and maternal and neonatal tetanus in 2015. 

To book an appointment for vaccination, you can:

  1. Sign in to U-WIN using your registered mobile number

  2. Select your state, district, and sub-district

  3. Choose a vaccination session from the upcoming days

  4. Click Available to book a slot 

You can also visit the nearest vaccination center to receive a vaccination without an appointment.

Immunization chart

It is aiming to maintain an electronic registry of routine immunizations. Currently, U-WIN is in pilot mode across all states and Union Territories, except for West Bengal. It captures every vaccination event for pregnant women and children under the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP).

The National Immunization Schedule (NIS) in India includes vaccines for infants, children, and pregnant women. Here are some of the vaccines and the ages at which they are given: 

·         Birth: Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG), Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), and Hepatitis B birth dose 

·         1 & half monhs: OPV-1, Penta-1, Rota-1, PCV 1, and fIPV-1 

·         2 & half months: OPV-2, Penta-2, Rota-2 

·         3 & half months: OPV-3, Penta-3, Rota-3, PCV-2, fIPV-2

·         9 months: MR-1, JE-1, Vitamin A-1, PCV booster, fIPV-3

·         16 -24 months: DPT Booster-1, Vitamin A-2, MR-2,JE-2, OPV Booster

·         15 months: MMR 2 and Varicella 

·         5 - 6 Years: DPt Booster-2 

·         10 Years: Td

·         16 years: Td

About U-WIN

  • India’s Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) is a part of the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Program under National Health Mission (NHM).

  • It is one of the largest public health programs in the world under which vaccination is being provided free of cost to all pregnant women & children.

  • Vaccination can be availed against 12 vaccine preventable diseases: nationally against 11 diseases- Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Rubella, severe form of childhood Tuberculosis, Rotavirus Diarrhoea, Hepatitis B, Meningitis & Pneumonia caused by Hemophilus Influenza Type B and Pneumococcal Pneumonia and sub-nationally against 1 Disease - Japanese Encephalitis (JE vaccine is provided only in endemic districts).

  • U-WIN platform captures each & every vaccination event of all pregnant women & children under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP).
